2026 Metro Masters

Format
We will be running 5 qualifiers and 5 finals for all classes.
Best 3 qualifiers and best 3 finals will count.
A 3 minute seeding round (fastest 3 consecutive laps) will be used to order the heats for the qualifier.

- 8:00am control tyre collection
- 8:30am track clean
- 9:00am drivers briefing
- 9:30am start
- Seeding - 1 round
- Qualifying – 5 rounds for all classes
- Aiming to finish by around 4:30pm
Sunday 11 January 2024
- 7:30am control tyre collection
- 8:00am track clean
- 8:30am drivers briefing
- 9:00am start
- Finals - 5 mains for all classes
- Aiming to finish by around 3:30pm
Depending on the weather forecast, the club reserves the right to amend the schedule. Any changes will be clearly communicated to racers.
Track Layout
The “Masters” layout will be used for the event and run in an anti-clockwise direction down the back straight.

Event timing will be available via the TFTR LiveTime site.
The event will also be live streamed straight to the TFTR YouTube channel.

No cross entry between ISTC classes.
While this is not a RCRA sanctioned event, RCRA class rules apply unless otherwise stated.
Heritage Touring Car
Cars must be 2010 or earlier (meaning cars like Tamiya 415's, early X-Rays, Team Associated shaft and belt driven cars etc. are eligible).
Cars can run a silver can brushed motor or a 21.5T brushless motor with a fixed FDR of no lower than 3.8.
Ideally cars will run period bodies. We will have a specific concourse trophy for this category.
We must stress that this class is for those who wish to re-live the glory days of the hobby and bring out their prized shelf queens for some action. It's not designed for balls out competition!
Race Fees
- $30 for first class
- $20 for each additional class
- $45 per set of control tyres
Control Tyres
Main control tyres VAULK VK-2036W Pre-Glued 36SK Touring Car Tire on White Dish Wheels.
TCR (rear) tyres are open but must be rubber with spoked rims.
VTA tyres must be:
- HPI D Compound VTA tyres:
- Vintage Racing Tire #4793 (front) and #4797 (rear)
- Vintage Slick Racing Tire #4791 (front) and #4792 (rear)

Tyres for 12th scale class are open.
Control tyres will be available for sale directly from the club or from Smokem Racing.

Tyre Rules
- Tyres will be available for purchase at entry as well as additional sets (up to maximum allowances) during the weekend.
- There are to be no modifications made to the tyre assembly (i.e. air holes in the rims must not be made bigger).
- Re-gluing and tyre balancing is allowed.
- Tyres will be marked by the race organisers and checked regularly, tyres are allocated to you and your class.
- Tyres may be interchanged within the sets purchased by a driver for that class without penalty.
- It is the drivers’ responsibility to ensure that all identifying marks on the tyre assembly are not damaged.
- You may not use another entrant’s tyre(s).
- Tyres must be collected prior to racing and must be returned before you leave the track on Saturday. Drivers failing to return tyres on Saturday will be disqualified.
- Tyres are the property of the entrant at the conclusion of the event.
Tyre Additive
To be confirmed.
Both additive and cleaner are to be self provided.
Electrical Safety And Air Compressors
In the interests of safety, the event organisers recommend that 240V electrical equipment be tested for safety prior to the event (i.e power supplies, soldering irons, power boards).
We reserve the right to refuse the use of any equipment considered unsafe.
The club air compressor will be available for use by all entrants. Personal air compressors may not be used to reduce noise and potential power spikes.
Trophies
1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each class will receive a trophy.
Transponders
MyLaps and AMBrc transponders are supported.
MRT mPTX personal transponders are supported.
Club transponders can be made available if required.
Seating
Undercover bench space is reserved for members with reserved spaces and interstate entrants.
Competitors must bring their own tents, tables, chairs and power leads – there is ample room for these.
The club has limited tables, chairs and tents available. If you require this please reach out to the club directly and put in a request - we will do our best to accommodate you.
Catering
BBQ lunch on both days.
Soft drinks, water, chocolates and chips are available for purchase from the club via our vending machine at any time.
Event Rules
Technical regulations:
- Random weight and voltage checks will be conducted throughout the weekend.
- The club multimeter and scales will be used so please ensure you are compliant with those.
- Any competitors found to be cheating in any way will be asked to leave the event - no warnings will be provided. This event is supposed to be fun and enjoyable and cheating of any description will not be tolerated.
Modified, 13.5T, 17.5T and 21.5T motors:
- Any approved (ROAR, BRCA, RCRA, EFRA) motor can be used.

Code Of Conduct
This meet will be run in accordance with the TFTR Code of Conduct which is available on our website here.
The aim is for all drivers to have fun and we will have a zero-tolerance approach to any poor sportsmanship, bad language, or general breaches of the code.
